BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple, non-surgical procedure that temporarily reduces forehead wrinkles, frown lines and crow’s feet by relaxing the muscles that cause them.
The lines that appear between the brows actually result from muscle movement and the passage of time. Two muscles are largely responsible for frown lines between the brows. When those muscles contract they draw the brows together. As skin becomes less elastic over time, repeated frowning can result in those moderate to severe lines between the brows. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein that blocks the chemicals that cause these facial muscles to contract, thereby relaxing them.
This simple, no-downtime treatment usually takes about 10-15 minutes. We will administer several tiny injections of BOTOX® Cosmetic directly into the muscles causing the wrinkles. No anesthesia is required, but we may numb the area with a cold pack prior to injecting. Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. You will be in and out of our office without downtime. You will see an improvement within days, and the appearance of the treated areas may continue to improve for up to a week. BOTOX® results are temporary, so we recommend maintenance treatments every three to four months, but results may vary.
